NORTHROP GRUMMAN

NAVIGATION SYSTEMS FACILITY

Overview

PSG managed the buildout of a new addition to Northrop Grumman’s Salt Lake City, Utah campus. The facility was a part of the expansion of their Navigation Systems Division. This project was preceded by PSG successfully coordinating a restack of Northrop Grumman’s 500,000 SF Division Headquarters in California.

PSG provided an on-site Senior Project Manager during the project. The ground-up steel-frame building was designed for new state-of-the-art production facilities including clean room space, as well as a new shipping/receiving dock, conference center, wellness center and executive office space.

Project Highlights

Cummins determined that its future corporate growth in the oil and gas equipment market required expansion. After much research, they elected to construct a new assembly plant in Houston, Texas, a major hub for oil and gas business and engineering.

Cummins selected PSG to manage the construction of its new 67,500 square foot plant facility, which included new equipment test cells and multiple overhead cranes. After collaborating with Cummins and their real estate broker, PSG began the qualification, bidding, and selection of a local developer and contractor.

PSG coordinated the project team’s documentation and management of project goals and objectives, budgets, plans and schedules, and design development phases.  Additionally, PSG developed the forms used for budget management tracking and the construction agreement used by Cummins for the project.

The major challenge of the Houston plant project was the fast-track design and construction required in order to open the facility on schedule.  PSG delivered a plant on time and ready for operation.
